No. 87 Squadron Air Warfare Instructor – Intelligence Combat Instructor Flight Lieutenant Knight has won the prestigious Max Cowin Award.
Posted to 82 Tactical Intelligence Flight (82TIF) at RAAF base Amberley, she was virtually presented the award by Commanding Officer No. 87 Squadron Wing Commander Darrell May on September 16 for her significant contribution to the reputation and value of the squadron in support of Air Force’s mission.
“I was incredibly humbled and surprised,” Flight Lieutenant Knight said.
“There are so many people within No. 87 Squadron that do such amazing work, across a breadth of Air Force missions, supporting tactical innovation and flexibility at a sustained high operational tempo.
“It’s an honour to be recognised by my squadron.”
Flight Lieutenant Knight deployed with the Air Task Group in support of the strike and surveillance missions in 2015 followed by supporting regional intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the Air and Space Operations Centre in 2016.
Her current role is to mentor, train and develop junior analysts to support mission intelligence effects for integrated air warfare, as well as support No. 82 Wing in tactics development.
“I’m strongly of the opinion that great mission intelligence is the result of good teamwork,” Flight Lieutenant Knight said.
“This award is as much deserved by the analysts at No. 87 Squadron that have supported me, particularly within the intelligence combat instructor cadre, as well as 82TIF in the past 12 months.”
Commanding Officer No. 87 Squadron Wing Commander May said the award was well deserved.
“Flight Lieutenant Knight is a worthy recipient of the award and has done a fantastic job, not just at 82TIF, but across the squadron,” Wing Commander May said.
