The Australian Defence Force has a new Deputy Chief Joint Operations (DCJOPS), Rear Admiral Jaimie Hatcher, after a transition-of-authority ceremony at the Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC) on September 27.

The outgoing DCJOPS, Major General Roger Noble, handed a "weight" to Rear Admiral Hatcher as part of the ceremony at HQJOC at Bungendore, just outside Canberra.

The weight is a replica (circa 1900) solid brass compass that symbolises the leadership and responsibility of the position in guiding the staff of the unit.

Major General Noble will take over the position of the Head Military Strategic Commitments from Rear Admiral Hatcher.

The DCJOPS is responsible for assisting Chief Joint Operations with their command of ADF joint operations, directing command units and assigned forces in the planning and conduct of campaigns, operations, joint exercises and other activities.
