ADV Reliant recently joined Pacific partners to conduct maritime surveillance patrols to detect and deter illegal fishing during Operation Nasse 2026. 

Following a port visit to Nouméa, New Caledonia, Reliant deployed to waters in the south-west Pacific Ocean to support multinational maritime surveillance and compliance activities.

Working alongside Pacific partners, the vessel contributed to maritime domain awareness and the protection of fisheries resources that underpin economic security and livelihoods throughout the region.

ADV Reliant Naval Liaison Officer LEUT Alexandria Wishart said the operation played a vital role in supporting maritime security and responsible fisheries management in the region.

“Operation Nasse is a multilateral maritime surveillance and fisheries compliance operation conducted in accordance with the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission regulations,” LEUT Wishart said.

“Operations such as Nasse allow Australia to support Pacific partners in safeguarding maritime resources while contributing to regional stability and prosperity for future generations.” 

This year marked the first time the ADF contributed a maritime asset to Operation Nasse. 

ADV Reliant’s participation reinforces Australia’s commitment to supporting Pacific-led maritime security and its enduring commitment to a secure, stable and prosperous Pacific.
