ADV Reliant delivers in Fiji

ADV Reliant recently delivered vital equipment and stores to sustain Fiji's maritime security capability during a port visit in Suva. 

Reliant supplied a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) and sustainment stores to support the Republic of Fiji Military Forces’ Guardian-class patrol boats.

The visit built on Reliant's longstanding engagement with Pacific partners. Earlier this year, the vessel delivered a mobile HIV laboratory and educational equipment to Fiji, demonstrating its ability to support a range of regional priorities, from maritime security to health and community initiatives.

Reliant Navy Liaison Officer LCDR Ian Boddy said the visit highlighted the value of practical cooperation in supporting regional security.

“The delivery of this RHIB and sustainment stores reflects Australia’s enduring commitment to working alongside Fiji and our Pacific partners to strengthen maritime capability and regional resilience,” LCDR Boddy said. 

“Supporting the operation and sustainment of Fiji's Guardian-class patrol boat capability is a practical demonstration of the close partnership between Australia and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.”

As part of the visit, Reliant also hosted representatives from the Pacific Community and the Pacific Humanitarian Warehousing Program to highlight the vessel’s capabilities and discuss shared interests in maritime security, disaster preparedness and regional resilience.

LCDR Boddy said partnerships remained central to addressing shared challenges across the Pacific.

“The Pacific is strongest when we work together, and Reliant’s activities are a practical example of that partnership in action,” LCDR Boddy said

“Whether it’s supporting maritime capability through the transfer of equipment, or sharing knowledge with organisations focused on humanitarian assistance and disaster preparedness, Australia’s goal is to contribute to a resilient and secure region.”
