Royal Australian Navy replenishment oiler HMAS Stalwart conducted a fuel resupply mission to the Harold E Holt Defence Precinct in Exmouth, Western Australia, supporting the continued operation of one of Australia’s most important strategic communications facilities. HMAS Stalwart recently delivered fuel to the Harold E. Holt Communications Station, reinforcing the essential role of sustainment in maintaining Defence capability and readiness.

The remote station, located in Exmouth, WA, contributes to Australia's ability to monitor, communicate and operate across the Indo-Pacific.

The resupply operation required close coordination between Navy personnel, Defence industry partners and local stakeholders to safely conduct the fuel transfer while ensuring the facility remained fully operational.

As one of Navy's auxiliary oiler replenishment vessels, Stalwart is designed to sustain maritime operations at sea.

This task demonstrated the broader value of sustainment capabilities across the Defence enterprise, supporting critical infrastructure that underpins Australia's communications and operational effectiveness.

CO Stalwart CMDR Ash Payne said the activity highlighted how integrated capabilities contribute to national defence.

“Stalwart's support to Harold E. Holt demonstrates that Defence capability is a truly integrated system,” CMDR Payne said.

“While we are best known for sustaining fleet operations at sea, our ability to support critical infrastructure ashore contributes directly to Australia's readiness, resilience and national defence.”

The mission also highlighted the strong partnership between Navy and Defence industry.

By combining operational expertise, technical knowledge and remote-area logistical support, the team completed the complex task safely and efficiently.

The fuel delivery ensured the continued operation of a key Defence facility and highlighted the professionalism of Stalwart's sailors in delivering sustainment where and when it is needed.
