JCG enters a new chapter
In a changing of the guard on July 7, AIRMSHL Glen Braz took the reins of Joint Capabilities Group (JCG).
The change-of-command ceremony brought together Defence senior leaders and the families of LTGEN Susan Coyle and AIRMSHL Braz, to pay tribute to LTGEN Coyle’s service and leadership, while formally marking the beginning of AIRMSHL Braz’s tenure as Chief of Joint Capabilities.
As a testament to JCG’s integrated approach, military personnel along with Australian Public Service employees and contractors, stood proudly together on parade, demonstrating the people behind the capabilities that define the group.
During her address, LTGEN Coyle highlighted the dedication and commitment of JCG’s workforce.
“Every success we celebrate today is a direct result of your effort, your sacrifice and your belief in what we are building together,” LTGEN Coyle said.
“Our motto ‘Our people, our edge’ is not just a phrase, it is something that JCG truly lives by. Because of your dedication, we are ready to fight tonight, tomorrow and together. It has been the privilege of my career to serve alongside each of you.”
In her final remarks, LTGEN Coyle spoke of her pride in the group’s accomplishments and confidence in its future.
“I leave this role as the Chief of Space and Cyber, and the Chief of National Support within JCG with a very deep sense of pride in what we have achieved, in the amazing people who make up our group, and in our future that lies ahead,” she said.
In his inaugural address as Chief of Joint Capabilities, AIRMSHL Braz thanked LTGEN Coyle for her leadership, describing her stewardship of JCG as “nothing short of exemplary”, and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to delivering critical capabilities for the ADF.
“Through the talented people working within JCG, I look forward to maturing our domains, growing our specialist workforce and deepening our impressive operational credentials,” AIRMSHL Braz said.
“We will take a leading role in the uplift of core knowledge and baseline skills across two vital domains.”
Looking ahead, AIRMSHL Braz outlined his vision for the group’s continued growth and evolution.
“Together, as a wily and tough nation, whose people are capable of so much, JCG will do our part to ensure the ADF remains a formidable force for deterrence and action against coercion,” AIRMSHL Braz said.
“In this endeavour, we must be ready today, postured for the future and committed to working together, always.”
The ceremony marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for JCG, as the group continues to strengthen its commitment to delivering critical capabilities for Defence.
