International Women’s Day in the Middle East Area of Operation

Joint Task Force 633 hosted an ADF International Women’s Day seminar on Friday, 8 March at Al Minhad Air Base (AMAB) in the United Arab Emirates.
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future and this year the theme is – A modern progressive world needs equality.
Commodore Martin Brooker, Deputy Commander Joint Task Force 633 at AMAB said the Joint Task Force hosted the seminar in celebration of the achievements of women across all walks of life.
“Women are moving increasingly into non-traditional employment bringing with them the advantages of diversity,” Commodore Brooker said.
“I admire those who see past gender and see people in light of their achievements. Gender should not restrict access to a role if they otherwise meet the criteria,” he said.
Commodore Brooker was pleased to be able to introduce a number of amazing speakers and to link up with the various areas around the area of operation and Canberra.
The seminar was attended by interested personnel - female, male, civilian and military across all ranks and personnel throughout the area of operations.

- WGCDR Lee De Winton Base Commander Multi National Base -Tarin Kot (speaking from TK);
