Australian defence leaders have joined the United Kingdom Secretary of State for Defence, Philip Hammond, on a visit to the Special Air Services Regiment Heritage Museum at Campbell Barracks, Swanbourne, Western Australia.

Mr Hammond met SASR members and was accompanied by Chief of the Defence Force, General David Hurley, Minister for Defence, Stephen Smith and Secretary of Defence, Dennis Richardson.

The visit to the Special Air Services Regiment was held in the lead-up to the Australia-United Kingdom Ministerial Consultations (AUKMIN) in Perth.

AUKMIN is the premier forum for Australian and UK foreign and defence ministers to discuss strategic, foreign, security and defence matters of common concern.

The close partnership between the UK and Australia helps to advance the national security interests and foster the economic prosperity of both countries.

This will be the fifth round of consultations, which have been held annually in recent years.
