Construction begins in Dili, Timor-Leste

On 9 June 2014: Australian Army Engineers from 6 Engineer Support Regiment, US Navy Mobile Construction Battalion 1, the Seabees, and Timor-Leste Defence Force (F-FDTL) Engineers have been busy for two weeks undertaking building works on three construction sites in Dili, Timor-Leste. The engineers have been working on a new kitchen at Comoro Intermediate School, a new emergency room at the Comoro Health Centre and ablution installations at Farol school.

The buildings are part of the many projects being undertaken as part of Exercise Pacific Partnership 2014 (PP14). PP14 is an annual United States (US) Pacific Command (PACOM)-sponsored mission that aims to strengthen international relationships, improve host nation resilience to natural disasters providing humanitarian and civic action programs that strive to improve critical infrastructure, and support host nation programs that provide health, education, and common services to local populations.
