Two Australian soldiers sustain minor wounds in Afghanistan

7 August 2012

Two Australian soldiers from the 3 RAR Task Group received minor wounds from an Improvised Explosive Device blast in Uruzgan province last week.

The incident occurred while they were supporting Afghan National Security Force operations.

Acting Chief of Joint Operations, Rear Admiral Steve Gilmore, said the soldiers have been released after precautionary medical assessment.

“The soldiers notified health personnel after the incident and were aero-medically evacuated to a coalition medical facility in Kandahar for precautionary medical assessment,” Rear Admiral Gilmore said.

“They have since been released from hospital and have contacted their families.”
