Tamworth safety investigation

22 February 2016

The Royal Australian Air Force has commenced an aviation safety investigation. During a training flight in a CT/4B earlier today, a fire extinguisher left the aircraft about 10 kilometres northwest of Werris Creek, near Tamworth, NSW.

If members of the public locate a fire extinguisher that appears out-of-place please call Tamworth Police station. Do not touch or move the item as it may be damaged.

No Air Force personnel were injured in the incident.

A comprehensive and detailed safety investigation into the incident has already commenced.

Safety is the most important priority for Air Force operations. Air Force aircraft are serviced and flown under a very strict and controlled airworthiness and safety system. All aircraft are under constant surveillance to ensure that they maintain the highest standards.
