Statement from the family of Sergeant Mick Dunn

28 July 2011

Following is a statement from the family of Air Force Sergeant Mick Dunn, injured in an explosion at Rockhampton Airport on Monday.

“Mick is in a very serious condition in the Royal Brisbane Hospital as a result of the burns he suffered during the explosion at Rockhampton Airport last Monday, but we are not giving up hope of a good recovery.

We are very grateful for all the messages of support from family, friends and members of the community, which are helping us work through this period of uncertainty.

We’re particularly grateful for the efforts of the dedicated staff in the Burns Unit who are doing their very best for Mick.

There is understandable speculation about the cause of the accident, however expert investigators are currently trying to determine the cause of the explosion and we ask that media wait until their findings are known.”
