Roulettes Appearance - Hobart Regatta and Bairnsdale Motor Show

11 February 2011

The scheduled appearance of the Roulettes between 12 – 15 February 2011 at the Hobart Regatta and the Bairnsdale Motor Expo has been cancelled.

The decision to cancel the Roulettes from performing at these events stems from a temporary pause in planned flying activities for the RAAF PC9/A aircraft flown by the Roulettes.

This decision has not been taken lightly and Air Force understands that the cancellation of both air displays will be extremely disappointing news to the citizens of Hobart and Bairnsdale.

Significantly, the pause in flying activities is in keeping with Air Force considerations where the safety of its personnel is paramount.

Air Force continues to maintain the highest levels of safety.

All aircraft are serviced and flown under a very strict and controlled airworthiness and safety system.

This includes constant surveillance to ensure that aircraft are maintained to the highest standards. However, at times, some equipment failures occur that require replacement or repair.

There are no indications of any safety issues unique to the PC9/A fleet.
