Precautionary landing of Sea King helicopter in Sydney

12 June 2011

At approximately 11:05am on Sunday 12 June, a Sea King helicopter from 817 Squadron, based at HMAS Albatross in Nowra, made a precautionary landing at the Royal Australian Naval establishment at Garden Island.

The Aircraft had been participating in the Navy 100 celebrations at Darling Harbour in Sydney.

The aircraft landed safely and was shut down without further incident in accordance with standard emergency procedures.

No personnel were injured during the incident.

The reason for the precautionary landing is being investigated by maintenance personnel from 817 Squadron.

No further information is available at this time an update will be provided once the investigation is completed
