Personal details of soldier killed in Afghanistan

24 June 2013

It is with deep regret that the Australian Defence Force confirms that Corporal Cameron Stewart Baird, MG, was killed on operations in Afghanistan on 22 June 2013.

The Australian Special Forces soldier from the Sydney-based 2nd Commando Regiment was killed in action by small arms fire during an engagement with insurgents.

Planning for the repatriation of Corporal Baird has begun although the date for his return to Australia has not yet been confirmed.

The family of Corporal Baird is receiving support from Defence and has requested their privacy be respected during this difficult time.
