Our Art, Your Heritage - 90 years of Air Force celebrated at the Shrine of Remembrance
25 March 2011The Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Mark Binskin AO, yesterday opened the exhibition Our Art, Your Heritage at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne.
Air Marshal Binksin believes the exhibition is an excellent opportunity for the community to join with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and help celebrate the 90th Birthday.
“The RAAF is proud to be part of the community and I would like to invite all Australians to visit the exhibition and join in our birthday celebrations through this exhibition.
“The exhibition showcases the evolution of the RAAF, from our humble beginnings in 1921, through to the innovative capabilities of today,”Air Marshal Binksin said.
The exhibition is a partnership between the Office of Air Force History, the RAAF Museum at Point Cook and the Shrine of Remembrance.
The exhibition presents award-winning entries from the biennial RAAF Heritage Awards, which began in 1987. Entries are judged on outstanding achievements in artistic endeavour, capturing moments in time involving personnel, units and aircraft in their many diverse roles, functions and locations from the RAAF’s past; and encapsulate RAAF traditions of courage and dedication.
Our Art, Your Heritage is on display from 25 March to 28 May 2011.
