Navy member dies at Australian Defence Cycling Carnival

Defence can confirm that a male Navy competitor has died today following a tragic accident while participating in the Australian Defence Cycling Club (ADCC) 2013 Cycling Carnival at Mount Stromlo in Canberra.

The accident occurred at 2:25pm Friday, 11 October. Medical staff were in attendance and immediately administered first aid.

The member was seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to Canberra Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The member’s family has been notified and is receiving all appropriate support services.

The Navy extends its sincerest condolences to the member’s family and his friends following this very sad and tragic accident.
