Middle East Air Sustainment charter delay
10 May 2012
Eighty-four Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel due to return home from the Middle East Area of Operations today (Thursday 10 May 2012) have been delayed by 24 hours.
The delay of the ADF sustainment flight was due to an issue with the aircraft’s air-conditioning system.
Chief of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Ash Power said the aircraft is scheduled to depart the Middle East Area of Operations on Thursday, 10 May 2012 and arrive in Darwin, Australia at 6.45am tomorrow (Friday, 11 May 2012).
“Unfortunately the repairs to the air conditioner were not completed in the allowable flight crew duty period which forced a mandated 24-hour delay to meet crew rest regulations.
“At no time was the safety of ADF personnel at risk,” he said.
