Marcus Blackmore Encourages Employers to Sign Up

15 February 2011

The Defence Reserves Support Council (DRSC) - Tasmania Committee, in conjunction with the Royal Hobart Regatta Association, hosted an employer engagement function as part of the Royal Hobart Regatta last night.

Guests, including CEOs from numerous businesses in Southern Tasmania, attended a dinner in the Regatta Pavilion.

Mr Marcus Blackmore, Vice Chair of the Defence Reserves Support Council, presented certificates to employers who have recently signed up to the Supportive Employer Program, which recognises those businesses which make special efforts to support their Defence Reservists.

The function is an opportunity to engage with local employers and discuss the role of the DRSC, and the benefits Reservist employees bring to civilian employers.

Employers also gain a greater understanding of the role Reservists play in the Australian Defence Force and their involvement in current operations.

The Royal Hobart Regatta is an historic event in Tasmania.  It started 174 years ago as a commemoration of the discovery of Tasmania by Abel Tasman.
