Inaugural Junior Enlisted Leadership Forum recognises regional potential
30 September 2015
The first Pacific Rim Junior Enlisted Leadership Forum is being held in Canberra this week, bringing the best of the best together in the spirit of camaraderie and friendship.
Warrant Officer of the Air Force, Mark Pentreath, CSM described the event as “the next step in nurturing and advancing international engagement”.
“This Forum is a first, bringing together airmen and airwomen from across the Pacific, with participants from 12 nations competing with their colleagues to be here”, WOFF-AF Pentreath said.
Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Leo Davies AO, CSC acknowledged that whilst air forces across the Pacific and Indian Ocean regions had developed their own professional military education and training strategies to grow their senior enlisted leaders, there had been limited opportunities for junior airmen and airwomen to share experiences and ideas.
‘This Forum allows our exceptional airmen and airwomen to share experiences with their international counterparts on the importance of leadership and the fundamentals of air power in our region”, AIRMSHL Davies said.
The Royal Australian Air Force is partnering with the United States Air Force to host the Forum. Chief Master Sergeant Harold Hutchison from the USAF Pacific Air Forces suggested the Forum’s focus was to provide participants with the “information and tools, with the focus being on leadership development to grow tomorrow’s senior enlisted leaders.”
