In-home child carers to reside in ADF subsidised housing
5 July 2013From 1 July 2013, further improvements to Defence housing policy will allow ADF members to have a non-dependent child carer live in their Defence subsidised housing.
This change to housing policy is part of Defence's commitment to providing ADF members with more flexibility to balance their work and personal needs.
Defence recognises that service often involves unusual patterns of work and frequent absences from family. This additional support allows ADF members greater flexibility in the options available to them when making arrangements for the care of their dependant children.
In addition to a range of leave benefits available to ADF members, this new provision will further support members with family responsibilities should they wish to enter into a personal arrangement to have their child or children cared for on a live-in basis.
Defence remains committed to being an employer of choice and improving flexibility and choice for members to help them balance their family, work and life commitments.
