DMO welcomes leadership appointment at ASC
2 October 2012
Defence Materiel Organisation chief executive officer Warren King today welcomed the appointment of Mr Bruce Carter as the new chairperson of the board of ASC Proprietary Limited.
“The recent announcement by Senator Wong, the shareholder minister for ASC on behalf of the Australian Government, is great news for the people of ASC and for Defence,” Mr King said.
Mr King said ASC had a significant opportunity to contribute to Australia’s Collins Class submarine capability, the Air Warfare Destroyer program and a number of future programs.
“I look forward to continuing to do business with ASC under the leadership of Steve Ludlam, and now with Mr Bruce Carter at the board level,” Mr King said.
“Like any organisation, it’s vital that ASC continues to improve its performance. That is our expectation of ASC, as it is of all our contracted suppliers.
“The naval shipbuilding and maintenance sector in Australia certainly holds bright prospects in the future for high-performing companies.”
Mr Bruce Carter replaces Vice Admiral (retd) Chris Ritchie, who served as the chairman of the ASC Board for more than three years and also served on the Air Warfare Destroyer Principals Council.
Mr King described Vice Admiral Ritchie as a great Australian who had devoted much of his working life to the Royal Australian Navy and the defence sector.
“We have all enjoyed working with Chris, and we wish him well in his future pursuits,” Mr King said.
