CT-4B safety investigation

10 June 2014

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has commenced an investigation after a CT-4B basic training aircraft from Tamworth conducted a precautionary landing near Gunnedah, NSW, today.

The CT-4B crew, comprising a trainee pilot and an instructor, landed the aircraft in a field at about 10:40 am (AEST). The crew is safe and well.

RAAF is making plans to recover the aircraft to support the investigation.

Safety is the most important priority for RAAF operations. RAAF aircraft are serviced and flown under a very strict and controlled airworthiness and safety system. All aircraft are under constant surveillance to ensure that they maintain the highest standards.
