The Australian Defence Force has completed its third air shipment of military stores to Erbil in Northern Iraq

7 September 2014

As with previous missions, the RAAF C-17A Globemaster aircraft flew from Tirana, Albania via Baghdad where Iraqi officials inspected and cleared the cargo of approximately 50 tonnes of small arms ammunition prior to delivery to Erbil.

The mission was carried out without incident and the C-17A is now returning to Al Minhad Air Base (AMAB) in the UAE.

Royal Australian Air Force C-130J Hercules and C-17A Globemaster aircraft remain available to assist with more tasks.
