Afghan boy seriously injured during partnered security operation

An Afghan boy who was injured during an engagement with a group of suspected insurgents on 1 May has returned home to his family.

Australian Special Forces soldiers who were undertaking a partnered security operation with elements of the Afghan National Security Forces in central Uruzgan provided immediate first aid.

The boy under went treatment at Mirwais civilian hospital in Kandahar , after initially receiving treatment at the Role 3 Medical Facility at Kandahar Airfield.

The Defence review into the incident is ongoing.
