ADF member injured in motor vehicle accident

An Australian Army soldier was critically injured in a vehicle accident at the Mount Bundy Training Area in the Northern Territory today.

Medical personnel on site provided immediate first aid before the soldier was aero medically evacuated to a local civilian hospital.

The soldier’s family has been informed and Army is providing them with support.

The Australian Defence Force Investigative Service has commenced an investigation into the accident and Defence will not comment further or speculate on the cause of the accident while this investigation is underway.

Defence will not release further information about the member or the specific nature of their injuries at this time.

In a separate, unrelated incident, a Royal Australian Air Force G-Wagon rolled on its side in Wallaroo National Park (north of Newcastle, NSW) this afternoon.

No one was injured and the incident is under investigation.

Air Force thanks NSW Police, Ambulance and Fire Brigade for attending the scene to assist.
