The Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps (RAAOC) celebrated its 120th birthday on board HMAS Canberra during Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022.
Major Raechel Driscoll, a Logistics Officer on board Canberra, said she was proud to be a part of the corps and its rich history.
“Although we have celebrated 120 years on July 1, our history as ordnance workers has been around for hundreds of years dating back to Tudor times,” Major Driscoll said.
“It was great to be able to share our special day with a variety of members from the branch and, of course, our Navy logisticians.”
The RAAOC branch is made up of administration clerks, warehouse managers, storeman, ammunition technicians, parachute riggers and petroleum operators.
They provide logistic support in peace time and when deployed on exercises or operations.
The members have provided a significant service to RIMPAC in partnership with Navy counterparts at sea.
