Flight Lieutenant Rachel Morris is currently deployed on Operation Accordion as a personnel capability officer with Air Task Group 630 at Australia’s main operating base in the Middle East.
She plays an integral role in supporting Australia’s whole-of-government operations across the Middle East Region in order to advance Australia’s national interest.
“My role here has been extremely busy, but rewarding,” Flight Lieutenant Morris said.
“Being able to see how other Australian Defence Force services and coalition partners work has been a huge career opportunity and I have really enjoyed it.”
This is Flight Lieutenant Morris’ first operational deployment away from her duties at RAAF Base Amberley, where she is attached to Combat Support Group, No. 1 Expeditionary Health Squadron.
“We work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcome.”
“Taskings on operation are high tempo, brief and sometimes at short notice. It’s important to trust in your team and know their strengths and weaknesses,” she said.
“We work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcome. My team and I strive to always deliver to the highest standards.”
On the completion of her deployment, Flight Lieutenant Morris will reunite with husband Steve and daughters Miah and Abigail at their home in Laidley Heights, Brisbane.
“I can’t wait to catch up on all the family activities I have missed during the deployment,” Flight Lieutenant Morris said.
“But most importantly, telling my family how much I love them will be the first thing I do.”
