New cohort of aviators graduate

Army and Navy welcomed a new cohort of aviation professionals last month following the Joint Helicopter School (723 Sqn) graduation at HMAS Albatross.

The graduates included Navy and Army pilots, Army aircrew operators, and remote pilot warfare officers, reflecting the joint approach to aviation training and capability development. 

Their training built technical proficiency and decision-making skills required for operations across maritime and land environments.

Cdre Training, Cdre Mitchell Livingstone, said the graduates entered a strategic environment that was more contested, more complex and more unforgiving than ever before.

“The Navy and joint force will rely on their ability to think clearly under pressure, adapt rapidly, and act decisively to deter aggression and, if required, fight and win,” Cdre Livingstone said.

CO 723 Sqn, Cmdr Joel Cooper, said capability was built on people.

“The achievements we recognise today are enabled by strong teams and the unwavering support of families, whose contribution is critical to success,” Cmdr Cooper said.

Graduates will now progress to operational conversion training on frontline platforms, including Seahawk helicopters and Army aviation capabilities.
