Reservists ready to fight
Army’s 4 Bde is ready to fight.
Conducting Exercise Peronne 2.2 at the Puckapunyal Military Area, the brigade and its units conducted foundational warfighting this month.
Collective training lead COL Scott D’Rozario said he couldn’t be happier with the outcomes.
“This exercise has been designed to further develop and enhance the fundamentals of foundation warfighting, and continue building on them,” COL D’Rozario said.
“Over nine days we’ve seen a real increase in combat capability; people who were okay are now good, and those who were good are getting great.
“Seeing cavalry and logistics work together, then engineers and infantry combine to achieve an effect, is exactly what this exercise is about. Those different skill sets coming together are helping the brigade grow.
“We’re training at echelon, from the soldier on the ground through to section, platoon and company commanders, and right up to commanding officers. Everyone is developing their own skills while learning how their part fits into the bigger picture.”
CMDR 4 Bde BRIG Michelle McCormack said she was impressed with the interoperability of the units.
“This exercise is another step in 4th Brigade’s readiness journey building capable, adaptable and cohesive teams,” BRIG McCormack said.
“When units train side by side, they learn not only their own role, but how their work enables everyone else’s.
“I am immensely proud of our soldiers. They have trained hard, learned from challenges and looked after one another, and I thank them for the time they have given away from family, work and study to be here.”
