Soldiers from 7 Bde and members of 5 Avn Regt practised the rapid movement of artillery at RAAF Base Amberley this month with the CH-47F Chinook.

MAJ Wade Higgins, ‘A’ Battery Commander, 1 Regt RAA, said the training was essential to building readiness.

“Training with 5th Aviation Regiment gives our soldiers the opportunity to rehearse the rapid movement of artillery in realistic conditions,” MAJ Higgins said.

“By working together regularly, we build the confidence, teamwork and procedures needed to deploy our equipment safely and efficiently when it matters most.

“This training prepares us to rapidly deploy combat power and equipment across the battlefield, enhancing our operational mobility and responsiveness in a range of environments.”

CAPT Dave Heina, of 5 Avn Regt, said the activity highlighted the importance of close coordination between aircrew and ground forces.

“Training like this ensures we can safely and effectively move critical equipment wherever it is needed, whether supporting military operations or assisting communities during humanitarian and disaster relief missions,” CAPT Heina said.
