Sword of command changes hands

A ceremonial handover at RAAF Base Glenbrook on April 22 marked a significant leadership transition, with the role of Air Commander Australia (ACAUST) passing to AVM Harvey Reynolds.

AVM Reynolds assumes the position of ACAUST from AVM Glen Braz, who has led Air Command through a period of sustained operational tempo and evolving strategic demands.

The change of command ceremony recognised the achievements of the outgoing commander and the responsibility entrusted to the incoming leader. As ACAUST, AVM Reynolds will oversee the generation and delivery of air power capabilities, ensuring the Air Force remains ready to respond to emerging challenges.

AVM Reynolds expressed his enthusiasm for returning to Air Command and working closely with personnel across the force.

“The key to air power is the capability generated by our world-class aviators. Returning to Air Command to work with aviators to meet the challenges we’re currently facing represents an opportunity which I do not take for granted,” AVM Reynolds said.

“I can’t wait to get back to working with aviators generating air power. They are the reason I still serve.”

AVM Braz identified the people in Air Command as the highlight of his time in the role.

“The opportunity to see and admire the amazing work of those within Air Command and the privilege to lead a great team of aviators,” AVM Braz said.

He told his successor: “Trusting your people and listening to their advice has helped me enormously.”
